In celebration of Jewish Heritage month, join us for a live, in-person screening of the documentary film "Periphery", on Jewish diversity in Canada.
The film screening will be followed by a discussion panel with Yonatan Belete and Akilah Allen-Silverstein, co-founders of No Silence on Race, which focuses on advocating for Jewish organizations to commit to meaningful action to create a more inclusive, anti-racist and equitable spaces which not only accepts Jews of Colour but celebrates their existence.

A proud member of the Ethiopian Jewish community, Yonatan has presented on the history of Ethiopian Jewry on university campuses across Canada. Dedicated to his community, Yonatan was a tutor in the English Language Program at Friends by Nature, a non-profit organization committed to educating and nurturing the next generation of Ethiopian-Israeli leaders. A co-founder at No Silence on Race, a Jewish non-profit organization dedicated to amplifying the voices of Jews from multi-ethnic and multi-racial backgrounds, he previously served as the Director of Speechwriting and Public Relations at the Embassy of Israel in Ottawa. Yonatan holds a BAH in Political Studies and History from Queen’s University.
Akilah is a Certified Financial Planner and Registered Retirement Consultant, and has her practice with Mandeville Private Client. She is President-Elect for the Rotary club of East York, a chapter of the international service organization which supports various local and international charitable organizations year-round through fundraising efforts and handsoff volunteer work. She presently serves on the board of the Birthright Israel Foundation Canada Young Leadership Counsel and she was recently appointed Treasurer on the board of MAiDHouse. She is also co-founder of No Silence On Race.
