The Jewish Federation of Ottawa is proud to launch the Jewish Educators of Ottawa (JEO) support network, designed to foster a community of Jewish educators who can learn together, support each other, and collaboratively address challenges such as antisemitism in Ontario schools.About the network: JEO will offer a series of programs throughout winter and spring 2025. These sessions are built in partnership with dedicated professional leaders in our community and aim to provide meaningful opportunities for professional development, collaboration, and support.
In today’s diverse classrooms, discussing difficult topics can be challenging but essential. Join us as Risa Epstein shares valuable insights and strategies for fostering civil discourse and navigating uncomfortable conversations with confidence.
Since October 7th, Risa has recognized the urgent need for communities to hold space for diverse viewpoints. She has facilitated programs across Ontario, equipping educators and learners with tools to navigate difficult conversations, enhance active listening, and engage meaningfully with controversial topics.
This session will provide practical tools to help educators engage thoughtfully with students and colleagues on sensitive issues, promoting a respectful and inclusive environment.
